Ki to World Peace: Planting the Spirit of Aloha

“The world will turn to Hawai‘i as they search for world peace because Hawai‘i has the key... and that key is aloha.” — Aunty Pilahi Paki

Aunty Pilahi Paki, a revered Hawaiian poet and philosopher, foresaw a time when the world would be in need of deep healing and would turn to Hawai‘i to find it. She taught that aloha is more than a greeting; it is a powerful spiritual force rooted in love, compassion, and forgiveness. Aunty Pilahi believed that the Kānaka Maoli, the Native Hawaiian people, are the keepers of this sacred truth and that aloha is Hawai‘i’s gift to a troubled world.

The Ki to World Peace initiative was born from this prophecy and is guided by the belief that true peace begins with the restoration of aloha at its source. That source is Puʻuhonua o Waimānalo, a sovereign refuge and home of the Nation of Hawai‘i. Here, aloha is not just remembered it is being actively restored, protected, and lived.

Central to Aunty Pilahi’s teachings is the ALOHA Chant, which assigns profound meanings to each letter:
  • AAkahai – Kindness expressed with tenderness
  • LLōkahi – Unity expressed with harmony
  • OʻOluʻolu – Agreeability expressed with pleasantness
  • HHaʻahaʻa – Humility expressed with modesty
  • AAhonui – Patience applied with perseverance

These principles serve as the foundation for the Ki Project’s mission to seek justice for the Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian people) and to reconnect the global community to the piko (origin) of aloha. By embodying these values, the initiative aims to foster reconciliation and promote world peace, inviting individuals worldwide to engage with and support this transformative movement

In Hawaiian culture, the ki plant (ti leaf) is a symbol of protection, purification, and spiritual connection. By planting your ki in the sacred soil of Puʻuhonua o Waimānalo, you are taking part in a living prayer-a pledge to protect aloha and support the peaceful rebirth of the Hawaiian Nation. Your ki becomes a guardian of the movement, grounding your spirit to the land and linking you to the generations of Hawaiians who have led one of the world’s longest and most peaceful independence movements.

Each planted ki is dedicated in your name and becomes a part of a growing living memorial to peace, justice, and spiritual unity. A minimum offering of $10 helps us continue this sacred work and honors the resilience of the Kānaka Maoli people.

🌱 Adopt a ki. Protect aloha. Plant peace.
Together, through small but meaningful acts, we begin the healing of our planet from the heart of Hawai‘i to the rest of the world.
